My dad brought me here for the first time
We watched West Ham together for the 44 years home and away

My dad died of cancer two years ago and I was distraught
Coming here every home game brings him close again

That's the difference I think, if that's how you describe your passion for the team then so be it but the term "Being West Ham" or being "more West Ham" than someone else makes me cringe

I am not West Ham!................... West Ham are the football team that I support and follow.

If you think tonight's game is just another game the fair enough, its your own somewhat narrow stilted view of what it is to be West Ham. For some like myself it is more than that.
It is about "being". We didn't choose to support West Ham through some logical rational decision process. We were born to it. Me in a hospital that was was just a goal kick from the ground and living in a house that when crowd roared (and the wind was from the West) you could hear it. Some of us had parents that also had grown up in the same environment and had told of their experiences and the 1923 Cup final. My dad wasn't a big football fan but he was West Ham (more than most on this site). He took me to my first game under lights at the Boleyn over 60 years ago it was magical never to be forgotten. It was the start of a lifetime of memories. So when that part of it ends tonight it will affect my being. For those who think this is just another game I genuinely feel sorry that "being" West Ham hasn't engender a sufficient understanding that tonight is more than just another game.

Have to agree about not giving a shit.....

It's good to see the team progressing as supporting a shit team as a school kid during the late 80's and early 90's has scarred me enough into not letting it get to me anymore. I use to REALLY CARE, losing 6-0 to Oldham, 4-0 to Forest and 6-1 to Sampdoria affected me real bad!

It's a good move as Green Street is a fucking shit hole so leaving Upton Park is a no brainer

In all honesty I'd rather they moved towards Essex than Stratford but remaining in London brings huge potential, the Dave's and Karen have done an amazing job.

Anger is about the only emotion I possess, which is apt as I hate the fucking move to the OS.

Sounds pathetic, but it killed off my love for going really, so my emotions towards it all were used up a couple of years ago.

Having emotions is what football and supporting West Ham is all about for me.

Some happy, some proud, some angry and yes, some sad.

Don't get how any proper West Ham isn't a little bit saddened to be leaving. It is the end of an era whilst I don't expect to cry tonight I will certainly have a lumped in the throat.
